About Us
The Sackville Lakes, Parks and Trails Association (SLPTA) is a group of people passionate about our community.
We have found the perfect outlet for that passion in advocating for, designing, building and maintaining the Sackville Lakes Provincial Park.
We welcome others who would like to join our Association, membership is $5/year.
What We Do
Water Stewardship
Water is life and the health of the lakes in our community is important to us. Monitoring lake health takes a team of volunteers to both gather, record and present the data.
Lab tests also cost money.
Volunteers and donations welcome!
Trail Maintenance
Drainage, culvert clean out, fresh gravel, hazardous trees, overgrowth, signage, storm damage and garbage services. We monitor and maintain it all.
Capital Infrastructure
Sometimes a new bridge is needed, or a new trail, another parking lot or entrance. The Sackville Lakes, Parks and Trails Association takes care of infrastructure too.
Directors
We have a Board of Directors with up to 20 members. We meet monthly on the second Wednesday of the month.
Perhaps you have a skill that could benefit the Sackville Lakes, Park & Trails Association.We need net workers, problem solvers, dreamers, doers, administrators, map designers, planners, communicators, hands on maintenance helpers, and bench builders. We do financial planning, web design, signage plans, ecological stewardship, water quality monitoring, repair to infrastructure, and grant writing.

Governance
The Park is Managed under the Provincial Parks Act. NSDNR administers the provisions of this act. NSDNR then has a Park Management Agreement with us, the Sackville Lakes, Parks & Trails Association.
SLPTA Responsibilites

Maintains trails and raises the funds to do so

Develops the park with permission from DNR

stewards the park & reports situations we cannot manage to DNR

liaison between the community and the land owner
DNR Responsibilities

Periodic patrols

Enforces regulations of the Parks Acts

Provides permissions to community groups using the park
